King named NACC Defensive Player of the Week

Junior Chelsea King of Marian University women’s soccer has earned NACC Defensive Player of the Week recognition for the first time this season.

King (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) had a busy pair of matches finishing with 26 total saves.  King opened her week making seven saves and allowing only two goals against Lawrence.  She then set a Marian NACC-era single-game record against No. 16 Loras stopping 19 shots.  King only allowed two goals against the nationally-ranked Duhawks to give her a .867 save percentage between the two games.

This is the sixth NACC Defensive Player of the Week in her career.

The full release from the NACC can be found at https://naccsports.org/sports/wsoc.

Marian opens NACC play against Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. from Smith Field.
