June 2020 YP of the Month – Maeghan Greeno

Name: Maeghan Greeno
Hometown: Fond du Lac, WI
Describe Yourself in Three Words: Motivated, Imaginative, Ethical

Place of Employment and Position: National Exchange Bank & Trust – Commercial Lender

What do you enjoy the most about your current position? I consider myself lucky to work for an organization that has been well respected in the Fond du Lac area since 1933. I am surrounded by successful, knowledgeable individuals that challenge me to better myself while I learn from their wisdom and guidance.

The thing I enjoy the most about my current position is that each day brings a new opportunity to help a local business achieve their goals. I love being a small part of what helps them start a new dream, expand their business, and ultimately add new jobs to the community.

What is the one thing you would do if you knew you could not fail? I am always fascinated to learn more about local history, especially the timelines of pieces of real estate and what they used to be. If I knew I could not fail, I would love to invest in local buildings and restore them to their former glory with a modern purpose.

How has YPF contributed to your personal and/or professional development? YPF has helped to me to gain confidence in myself and my abilities as a leader in the community. Prior to attending my first “YPF 101”, I wasn’t completely sure what the organization did or how I could be involved, but I knew that I wanted to find out. Attending that Lunch n’ Learn session on what YPF has to offer opened my eyes to the opportunities that were right in front of me. Since then, I’ve joined multiple committees and have had the chance to Co-Chair events like “Breakfast with Champions” and “YP Week”. The planning that goes into events like these has put me in touch with other professionals

in the community. These relationships have taught me so much and have developed into friendships that I otherwise would not have had.

Who or what is your source of professional inspiration? I believe that we are all inspired or influenced by multiple people in our lives that have made an impact at one point or another.

I am inspired by former teachers that helped me almost 20 years ago and one that continues to remind me to “accept the 1st arrow and don’t stab the 2nd one”.

I am inspired by my parents that showed me what a strong work ethic looked like each and every day.

I am inspired by the friends and colleagues that I have met along the way who encourage me to have the “anything is possible” attitude.

Lastly, I am inspired by my husband who shares my competitive nature, but is always there supporting me along the way.

What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in? In addition to the Young Professionals of Fond du Lac, I try to be involved in various other groups in the community. I am currently a Board Member of the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership which allows me to participate and share input regarding the commercial and cultural heart of the community. I have spent time volunteering with Lemonade Day, Challenge Day, and Reality Day, in an effort to mentor the youth in our area on business development, diversity, and fiscal responsibility. I have also been a Team Captain or Co-Captain of a Corporate Challenge team for the last 5 years, which contributes funds to the Boys & Girls Club/Fond du Lac Family YMCA while promoting teamwork and positive interaction!

What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area? My favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area is to explore and try out the local restaurants. You can’t go wrong by enjoying quality time with friends and family while sampling the wide variety of delicious food options the Fond du Lac area has to offer.

Where do you see the  Fond du Lac area in 5 years? In 5 years, I see the Fond du Lac area continuing to make strides in Economic Development and the revitalization of beloved areas of town. I envision Fond du Lac becoming more of a destination as others travel here to enjoy the Lakeside Park development and local flair that the Downtown has to offer. I hope to see even more talent retention and attraction as other young professionals see the potential that Fond du Lac has to offer!

What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac? Get involved!!! I realize that sounds so simple, but it really is just that easy. Let go of your insecurities, take a chance, and know that whatever organization you choose to be involved with, you will be making a difference in the Fond du Lac community.
