Hunter, Z. heroics lead Marian women’s ice hockey to sweep

Marian University women’s ice hockey (9-9-0, 6-6-0 NCHA) earned a sweep of Lawrence behind a 4-0 road win.

  • The Sabres dominated in shots in the opening period but the score remained 0-0 at the first intermission.
  • Marian took the lead in a big way with sophomore Zowie Hunter scoring three times in a span of 4:30.
  • The opening goal came on a power play and was assisted by junior Olivia Church-Sowinski along with junior Ella Spies.
  • Then just 2:06 later, Hunter was assisted by freshman Jillian Newhouse and Crawford to put Marian ahead 2-0.
  • Senior Caitlin Traver helped out on the final goal which came with 7:37 left in the period.
  • Hunter closed out the scoring at the 8:24 mark of the third period with an unassisted score.
