In 1941, Filippo Candela, along with a small group of friends and family, created Grande with the purpose of making “The Finest Italian Cheeses Money Can Buy.” As the primary cheesemaker of this new company, Filippo’s dedication to his craft would become foundational in the development of Grande Italian artisan cheeses.
For decades, Grande has worked with Wisconsin’s finest dairy producers and their talented team of Cheesemakers in creating world-class, artisan Italian cheese. Their products are used coast-to-coast in some of the best, independently-owned pizzerias and Italian restaurants. From their dedicated Sales Associates in the field, to those hand-crafting cheese in their facilities, they have a passion for consistently delivering exceptional products to their customers, while seeking ways to bolster and support their businesses.
In the early years, Grande crafted aged, Italian cheese such as Provolone and Romano. Today, they also manufacture Mozzarella, Parmesan, Burrata, Asiago, and more. In addition, they offer specialty whey ingredients which solve the formulation challenges faced by food-and-beverage manufacturers including upholding cleaner/natural labeling, improved nutritional value, and enhanced texture of their products.
Grande is deeply committed and connected to their culture. Their greatness is a direct result of their unwavering commitment to their culture. They have four social responsibility pillars: Business Sustainability, Associate Excellence, Community Involvement, and Environmental Awareness.
