Get Your Flannels Ready – The Ledge Games Return for Ninth Consecutive Year

Annual charitable event is back in 2024 to raise funds for local tech education

The Ledge Games (TLG), a local timber competition for charity, returns to Red Cabin at Green Acres on Saturday, October 5, 2024, for the ninth year of competition. The local lumberjack event is proud to welcome hundreds of spectators and more than 100 amateur competitors all vying for the titles of Man, Woman, and Mentor (ages 55+) of the Ledge.

Competition challenges the competitors’ strength and finesse with events including caber toss, hammer toss, recurve archery, keg toss, speed chop and axe throwing. The winner of each event will claim a TLG axe, and the winners of each division take home a new chainsaw and a year’s worth of bragging rights.

New in 2024, spectators and competitors alike can take part in a new public competition – the crosscut saw. Teams of two will test their skill as they race the clock to see how quick they can cut a log “cookie” for a chance to win fun prizes. This open competition joins TLG’s annual “William Tell Apple Shoot,” a long-standing fan favorite.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for our ninth annual event on October 5 at the Red Cabin at Green Acres,” Tyler Oestreich, The Ledge Games co-founder, said. “We’re ready to see who claims their axes, all while raising funds for a really worthy cause – local tech education.”

Since 2016, The Ledge Games and its long list of dedicated local sponsors have raised more than $66,000 to help make education more accessible and affordable for local students studying engineering, manufacturing, technology and related fields. Additionally, TLG continues to engage the community throughout the year with Engineer + Builder Meetups, networking events that allow local industry experts to showcase their personal and professional projects and skill sets.

The Ledge Games kick off at 8:00 a.m. with events running until approximately 4 p.m. In addition to the lumber competition, TLG offers food, drinks, raffles, entertainment and fun for the whole family.
