Fond du Lac resident wins the Samaritan Cash Raffle grand prize

Paul Schwalbach, a Fond du Lac resident, is the grand prize winner of the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s Samaritan Cash Raffle, being randomly drawn for the $50,000 cash prize.

“Supporting the SSM Health Samaritan Clinic has been something my wife and I have been doing for many years,” according to Schwalbach. “The clinic fills an important gap in helping support my community with access to health care for those requiring medical assistance. As a pharmacist at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital, there have been many instances where the clinic has helped patients afford their new medications at hospital discharge. I was shocked to learn I was the raffle winner! With my son getting married this August, the timing couldn’t be more perfect!”

Ticket sales were steady all morning on the drawing’s final day, May 13. The suspense was finally relieved when the grand prize winner was announced by Mason Gravelle, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Philanthropy Director, and co-chairpersons – Maggie Shell, Gysbers Jewelry Owner and Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Board Member, and Dr. Elizabeth Dodd, SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic Pediatrics.

The SSM Health Samaritan Clinic provides health care to around 750 underinsured patients annually. The clinic provides a full spectrum of care, helping individuals to navigate insurance options, finding a primary care provider and working with local community resources if other needs arise. This year celebrates the 34th anniversary of the Samaritan Clinic.

The clinic is funded in part by donations through the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation and Samaritan Cash Raffle proceeds.

More than 4,100 tickets were sold in this year’s raffle with the cash raffle raising nearly $102,000.

All money raised by the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation stays local and supports the Greater Fond du Lac community.

“Our cash raffle draws supporters from every corner of the community,” Gravelle notes. “But they’re united by one thing: a desire to help ensure people don’t miss out on essential medical care.”
