Hometown: Fond du Lac
Educational Background: BS Architectural Engineering & MS Structural Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering
Describe Yourself in Three Words: challenge, driven, adventurer

Place of Employment and Position: Structural Engineer at Excel Engineering

What do you enjoy the most about your current position?
I enjoy the variety and challenge of building design and analysis.  Recent highlights range from serving as an expert witness in lawsuit over a 100-year-old building and designing the building structure for a new $600 million paper machine project.

What is the one thing you would do if you knew you could not fail?
Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

How has YPF contributed to your personal and/or professional development?
YPF provides many opportunities to network and make friends from other organizations.

What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in?
I recently served as the co-chair on the finance committee helping to raise over $2 million for Faith Lutheran’s recent school addition.  I am also a member of Fondy 100 Gives and a board member for the Redline Triathlon club.

In keeping with YPF’s theme for this year, “Say Yes,” when is a time that you “said yes” that has had an impact on your personal or professional life?
I was talked into going on a service trip to Guatemala my last year at MSOE.  Helping build a school where the locals were excited for the pit toilet it had makes me appreciate the blessings we often take for granted.  The trip also started my hobby of international vacations.

What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area?
In summer I can be found biking on the roads or swimming in a lake for triathlon training.  My newest purchase is a fat bike so I can keep riding during the winter.

What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?
Find a job you are passionate about- you need to able to enjoy your time in the office.  Work to live, don’t live to work- make time for your hobbies.
