Fast start leads Marian field hockey past Wooster

Marian University field hockey (2-0, 0-0 CFHC) scored three goals in the first 8:23 of the game en route to a 4-1 win over Wooster.

  • The scoring barrage came quickly as senior Allyson Nichols began the scoring with an assist from freshman Charlotte Touw 4:04 into the game.
  • Touw then found the back of the cage herself to put Marian ahead 2-0 2:11 later.
  • Another assist from Tow saw senior Jikke Biemans put the Sabres ahead at the 8:23 mark.
  • The 3-0 Marian led held until the second quarter when Wooster scored its first goal 2:09 in.
  • This 3-1 Sabre lead was the tally going into halftime.
  • An unassisted goal from sophomore Clara Guivernau Ragghianti 4:24 into teh second half proved to be the final tally in the 4-1 win.

  • Marian finished with an 18-10 advantage in shots for the game along with a hefty 12-1 advantage for shots on goal.
  • The Sabres didn’t allow a shot in the fourth quarter and had 11 of their own.
  • Wooster finished with an edge in penalty corners by an 11-8 clip.
  • Marian is now 2-0 all-time against Wooster with the last meeting coming last year.

Senior Allyson Nichols scored her third goal of the season on the only shot she took.
