Youth Apprenticeship Parent Information Sessions Announced

Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Youth Apprenticeship Program (YA), also known as School to Work, has announced dates and locations for parent information sessions. The YA program is part of a statewide initiative designed for high school students who want hands-on learning in an area of career interest at a work site along with classroom instruction. Designed for parents of Sophomore and Junior-level High School students, these information sessions will go through what is required and involved in being a youth apprentice.

Youth apprenticeships are available across 11 different pathways including: Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; Architecture and Construction; Art, AV Technology and Communications; Finance; Health Sciences (CNA); Hospitality and Tourism; Information Technology; Manufacturing; Marketing; Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM); and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. These one or two-year elective programs combine academic and technical instruction with mentored on-the-job learning. Additionally, students receive compensation of at least minimum wage, with many pathways $9.00 per hour and up. Following completion of the program, students receive a state credential.

Upcoming parent information sessions are listed below. Interested parents/students are welcome to attend any of the locations.

Youth Apprenticeship is a program of Fond du Lac Works, an initiative of Envision Greater Fond du Lac. For more information, please contact Lisa McArthur at [email protected] or 920-921-9500.
