Drug Free Communities, YPF partner on Community Events Best Practices

Young Professionals of Fond du Lac (YPF) and Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac County (DFC) teamed up recently for the YPF’s Kicking for a Cause Kickball Tournament.  DFC developed a Community Events Best Practices Alcohol Management tool to reduce the risk of underage drinking at public events.  Young Professionals, a program of Envision Greater Fond du Lac, chose Drug Free Communities to be the recipient of proceeds from the tournament.  During this event, children could purchase items at an alcohol-free window without being exposed to direct alcohol sales. We know that children are influenced by the accessibility, attractiveness, and affordability of alcohol. Having a separate area that is alcohol-free is one best practice that is highly encouraged for all community events.
