Envision Greater Fond du Lac was proud to celebrate the grand opening of Bird’s Eye View Optical and the completion of the historic Rueping Lofts during a community ribbon cutting ceremony that showcased the continued revitalization of downtown Fond du Lac.
The celebration brought together community leaders, business owners, project partners, and residents to recognize several transformational projects that reflect years of investment, collaboration, and a shared commitment to strengthening downtown. The event also marked the official public opening of the Downtown Art Lot mural project and the one-year anniversary of Fond du Lac Beer Company.

Located at 183 S. Main Street, the Rueping Lofts represent the restoration of a building originally constructed in 1889 and known to many as the longtime home of Brickle’s Tavern. Local developer Sam Meyer reimagined the historic property as a mixed-use destination featuring Bird’s Eye View Optical on the first floor and seven distinctive apartments throughout the building. The thoughtfully restored apartments preserve the building’s historic character with restored hardwood floors, exposed brick, original wood doors, and soaring ceilings while incorporating modern amenities. The celebration also marked the grand opening of Bird’s Eye View Optical’s new downtown location. Owner Angi Roloff has expanded the practice into an elegant retail and patient care space that complements the historic architecture while providing an enhanced experience for patients and customers. Just around the corner, Fond du Lac Beer Company celebrated its first anniversary at 21 Fourth Street Court. Since opening last year, owner Mike Leb has transformed a long-underutilized property into a popular community gathering place, featuring a brewery, event space, and welcoming atmosphere that has quickly become a downtown destination.
Attendees also had the opportunity to experience the official public opening of the Downtown Art Lot at 13 Fourth Street Court. The public art installation features eleven large-scale murals painted on historic building exteriors, transforming a shared parking area into a vibrant destination that adds to the character and appeal of downtown. Although the murals were completed in 2025, ongoing construction delayed public access until this community celebration.
Following remarks from project leaders and elected officials, Envision Greater Fond du Lac staff and Ambassadors conducted the official ribbon cutting before guests enjoyed open houses, guided tours of the Rueping Lofts, Bird’s Eye View Optical, Fond du Lac Beer Company, and the Downtown Art Lot.
The celebration reflects the collaborative spirit at the heart of Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s strategic plan.
