Ellingson, Olson grab October Sabre of the Month honors

Junior Kyley Olson of Marian University women’s bowling and senior Simon Ellingson of Marian University ACHA D2 have been named the Sabres of the Month for October.

Olson (South Beloit, Wis.) has made an immediate impact on the lanes for Marian bowling in her first month as a Sabre. In four events in the first month of the season, Olson finished inside the top five of two of them and averaged 196.7 pins.  At the first GLBC Event of the year, Olson averaged 220.4 to finish atop the individual leader board.  She had at least 199 pins in all five games of the event and had a high game of 248.  Olson then earned a third-place finish at the UWW Warhawk Classic after averaging 197.2 pins with a high game of 230.  This earned her the first CCIW Bowler of the Week award of the season.  As a team, Marian finished the month with two first-place finishes, both GLBC Events, and a third-place finish at the UWW Warhawk Classic.

Ellingson (Fond du Lac, Wis.) paced the Marian offense and helped lead the Sabres to a 7-2-0 mark to open its season, including a 4-0-0 mark in conference play.  He finished the month with 18 points coming from eight goals and 10 assists and had at least one point in every game that statistics were available for.  He had a pair of multi-goal efforts netting a hat trick in the opener against UW-Milwaukee followed by two more goals in the finale.  Ellingson finished the series against the Panthers with nine points in total.  He also opened the season with a multi-point effort scoring a goal to go with an assist against Purdue Northwest.  For his career, Ellingson now has 39 goals with 44 assists for 83 total points in only 69 games played.

Marian ACHA D2 is next in action at home Friday, November 8 taking on MSOE at 7:45 p.m., while Sabre bowling heads to the UWO Titan Invite Nov. 2-3.
