Marian University baseball (10-13, 4-7 NACC) was defeated 17-14 in 10 innings at Concordia Chicago before game two was postponed due to impending storms.
- Marian was the home team for the game as it was originally scheduled as a home game for Marian.
- The Sabres were able to open the game with six runs through the first three innings.
- Sophomore Zach Ennis hit a solo home run in the third and added a run-producing single in the fourth as part of the fast start.
- Concordia Chicago was able to plate three runs in the fifth, but a single from junior March Jones in the bottom half put the Marian lead at 8-3.
- The two teams traded two runs in the sixth with junior Lucas Lemons driving in both runs with a single.
- This gave Marian a 10-5 advantage before the Cougars scored six runs in the seventh to take their first lead of the game.
- The lead didn’t last long as junior Jason Sims hit a solo shot and freshman Randall Von Haden hit a pinch-hit three run homer in the bottom of the seventh to give Marian a 14-11 edge.
- The Cougars cut the deficit down to one in the eighth before a homer in the ninth was able to force extra innings.
- Concordia Chicago was able to close out the comeback win with three runs in the top half of the 10th.
- Game two was then postponed due to impending storms in the area with a make-up date to be announced when available.
