Early Goal Doesn’t Hold up for Sabre women’s Soccer

Marian University women’s soccer (2-2-0, 0-0-0 NACC) scored the opening goal but fell to UW-Whitewater by a 3-1 final.

  • Marian was able to control play early and opened the scoring at the 13:09 mark when sophomore Emily Gordillo sent a corner kick into the back of the net.
  • The Warhawks were able to tie the game in the 32nd minute on a penalty kick.
  • The 1-1 stalemate held going into the second half.
  • UW-Whitewater was able to get out to a strong start in the second half and took its first lead 4:44 into the second half.
  • UWW was then able to close out the scoring in the 57th minute with its third unanswered goal.

  • The Warhawks had a 14-2 advantage for shots in the second half of the game.
  • UW-Whitewater finished with a 9-3 edge for corner kicks.

  • Marian remains winless all-time against UWW in nine games.
