Downtown Fond du Lac Art Lot Murals Are Underway

The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership is excited to announce the launch of the “Art Lot” mural project, featuring eleven unique murals on private building exteriors in historic downtown Fond du Lac.

About the Project – The Art Lot is a vibrant public art initiative to transform a shared parking area, located at 13 Fourth Street, into a colorful, inviting space that adds vitality to the district and enhances the downtown experience for both residents and visitors.

The murals are being painted on a variety of surfaces—including brick, vinyl siding, cinder block, wood, and fencing—each averaging approximately 20 feet wide by 10 feet high. Two murals are located on second-story surfaces accessible via flat rooftops, and three murals will require a lift due to their height.

All surfaces were power washed, repaired, and sealed in preparation. Once completed, the murals will be professionally seal coated to preserve the artwork.

Artists were encouraged to explore themes such as Fond du Lac’s history, community, and natural features, with an emphasis on interactive murals that create engaging photo opportunities.
The talented artists selected for this project are:

Kiba Freeman, Paul Krikau, Melanie Peterson, Chloe Tschudy, Katelyn Lavernz, Mindy Leitner, Lena Ugren, and Abigail Wendt.

Timeline & Public ViewingMural painting began on May 6, 2025 and will continue throughout the month of May.

The public is invited to watch the artists at work during a special viewing on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to noon, in conjunction with the Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers Market.

Come see the Art Lot take shape and celebrate creativity in the heart of downtown!
