Dock Spiders Win Fourth Straight I-41 Showdown

Fond du Lac defeats Green Bay, 5-3

In one of the best traditions in the Northwoods League, the Dock Spiders and the Rockers squared-off against each other for the I-41 Showdown presented by Holiday Automotive at Neuroscience Group Field.

At the home ballpark of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Fond du Lac and Green Bay clashed in a tough fought duel between the two Great Lakes West rivals.

Green Bay started the game off hot, scoring the first two runs in the opening inning. However, the Dock Spiders would finish the game on a 5-1 run en route to the 5-3 win.

The Dock Spiders in the two-run comeback win had highlight performances in all facets of the game. Offensively, the Dock Spiders put up eight hits and five runs with four stolen bases.

Matt Hansen and Jaron Cotton were the only Dock Spiders to have a multiple-hit performance. Hansen went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two hit-by-pitches. Cotton totaled a night going 2-for-4 with one RBI and a walk. Miles Vandenheuvel had a great night on the base path as well, scoring twice and swiping two bags to bring him to a season total of seven.

On the mound the Dock Spiders used four arms but saw deep outings from Noah Wech and Karter Muck. Wech gave up two runs in the first inning before holding the Rockers scoreless for the next three. Wech totaled four strikeouts giving up no earned runs in his return to the Dock Spiders after playing the 2024 season. Muck closed out the game for the Dock Spiders, pitching the final four innings while only giving up one run to five strikeouts.

The Dock Spiders have now won four out of their last six games as they will take on the Rockers tomorrow night to close out the two game series. At an even 8-8 record, the Dock Spiders look to improve above .500 for the first time this season with a win tomorrow.

The game tomorrow night between Fond du Lac and Green Bay at Herr-Baker Field will have a 6:35 p.m. first pitch and the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a 2024 Draft Class card set giveaway courtesy of LEB Insurance Group. Stay the entire way through the game to enjoy post-game fireworks presented by MICHELS Corporation.
