Dock Spiders Split with the Mallards

Madison defeats Fond du Lac, 13-5

The Dock Spiders fall to Madison Mallards in the final meeting between the two teams in the 2025 Northwoods League season after allowing 16 hits and three home runs.

To start off the Friday night contest, the two teams each took turns exchanging runs with the Dock Spiders scoring in the top of the second after a Thomas Googins RBI double. Heading into the fourth inning the Mallards had a 3-1 lead but a four run response by the Dock Spiders propelled Fond du Lac to a 5-3 advantage. The scoring barrage in the top of the fourth was led by a Thomas Googins sac-fly and a Quinn Schambow three RBI double. Unfortunately from this point the Dock Spiders offense and defense struggled to keep up with the Mallards as Madison scored 10 unanswered to notch a 13-5 win over Fond du Lac.

Offensively the Dock Spiders started off hot before being cooled down by a stout Mallards defense. Fond du Lac put up five hits and no Dock Spider had a multiple hit game, however, Quinn Schambow had a three RBI game and Tommy Googins had a two RBI performance.

On the mound the Dock Spiders struggled to limit the Mallards offense as they allowed 16 hits and the three arm Dock Spider pitching rotation only combined for one strikeout while walking eight batters.

The Dock Spiders look to rebound as they take on the Wausau Woodchucks tomorrow at 3:05 p.m. to start off a four game set between the two Great Lakes West adversaries.

The next home game is on Sunday, August 3rd at 1:05 p.m. as the Dock Spiders take on the Wausau Woodchucks.
