Dock Spiders Shutdown the Chinooks

Fond du Lac Defeats Lakeshore, 6-0

The Dock Spiders clinch a shutout win over the Chinooks led by right-handed pitcher Sebastian Khan’s having a seven strikeout, 109 pitch outing.

After falling in back-to-back games in Mequon, Fond du Lac found the scoring column first in the bottom of the third inning off of a Miles Vandenhuevel sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Dock Spiders loaded the bases with no outs but came up empty scoring no runs. Brady Blake thought he had a bases-clearing hit down the third base line but the ball was ruled foul by the home plate umpire. Dock Spiders manager Sam Fonder was ejected after a confrontation with the umpire about the call.

Fond du Lac had a four run bottom of the fifth in which designated-hitter Vincent Venverloh and catcher Dylan Archuletta both delivered back-to-back home runs for their first hits of the season. Dock Spider first baseman Cam Uzzillia brought home the sixth and final run in the bottom of the sixth inning off of a sac-fly.

The Dock Spiders offense was outhit by the Chinooks 7-6, but were able to secure the win thanks to 10 free passes (six hit by pitches and four walks) and the two home runs. On the base path the Dock Spiders center fielder Miles Vandenhuevel who swiped two bags as Fond du Lac stole four bases during the afternoon contest.

Fond du Lac starter Sebastian Khan’s final line of the afternoon was seven-and-one-third innings pitched with zero runs, two walks and seven strikeouts recorded. Right-handed pitcher Myles Harrison closed out the game with two strikeouts in an inning and two thirds.
