Senior Katelyn Matenaer and freshman Erin Cowe of Marian University softball have each been named to the All-NACC Second Team.
Matenaer (West Bend, Wis.) finishes a dazzling career earning her third All-NACC selection. Matenaer was one of two Sabres to start in all 45 games this season and led the team in extra-base hits, slugging percentage, runs driven in, and hits. She finished the season with teh third-best batting average at .362 with 31 runs driven in and 25 runs scored. Matenaer slugged for extra bases 14 times on the year with nine doubles and five long balls. She was held without a hit in only 11 games during the season with 17 multi-hit efforts. Matenaer had an especially strong performance in the Edgewood series where she was 4-for-6 (.667) with four runs scored, five runs driven in, and three of her home runs. In the NACC Tournament, she was 7-for-15 (.467).
Cowe (Palos Hills, Ill.) made an immediate impact for the Sabres earning an all-conference award in her first season as a Sabre. Cowe was second on the team with her 49 hits, 28 runs, and .366 batting average for the season. She started in all 42 games she appeared in and was held without a hit in only 10 games. Cowe had multiple hits in 16 games with three three-hit performances. She also ended the year on an eight-game hitting streak where she had multiple hits in six of those games. In the MSOE sweep, Cowe was 5-for-7 (.714) at the dish and scored three runs.

Marian University softball qualified for the NACC Tournament for the sixth time in the past seven seasons and defeated MSOE on a walk-off in the opening game of the tournament.
