The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the corporate boundary. The Weekly Construction Updates and Construction Map are posted on the City’s Website at www.fdl.wi.gov.
All anticipated construction activities are weather dependent.
2026 Mill & Overlay Program
Schedule: July 20 through Mid-September
Description: The project includes manhole adjustments, spot curb and gutter replacement, milling pavement, and overlay of asphalt.
July 27 to July 31: The excavation contractor completed manhole adjustments on Seymour Street and will move to Vine St, 19th St, and 17th St. The concrete contractor will be curb and gutter repairs on Seymour Street.
Project Locations:
- 17th Street: From Vine Street, west to Dead End
- 19th Street: From Park Avenue, east to Bruce Street
- Vine Street: From 13th Street to 19th Street
- Seymour Street: From Grove Street to north of the Military Road Intersection
Traffic Impacts: Streets will remain open to traffic; however, motorists may experience delays during this project. Local traffic and driveway access will remain available whenever possible.
CTH K – STH 23 to USH 151
Schedule: May through August
Description: Fond du Lac County Highway Dept in partnership with the City of Fond du Lac are reconstructing this segment of CTH K. The construction includes common excavation, sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, concrete curb & gutter, asphalt roadway, permanent signing, and other incidentals.
July 27 to July 31: Excavation will continue on the north end of CTH K. Traffic to the Taycheedah Correction institute should continue to come in via STH 23.
Traffic Impacts: CTH K between STH 23 and USH 151 is closed to traffic. Residents may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
Pioneer Road – CTH V to Fond du Lac Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: Fond du Lac County Highway Dept in partnership with the City of Fond du Lac are reconstructing this segment of Pioneer Road. The construction includes common excavation, sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, concrete sidewalk and curb & gutter, asphalt roadway, roadway lighting, permanent signing, and other incidentals.
July 27 to July 31: Communication utilities will continue their relocation work.
Traffic Impacts: Pioneer Road between CTH V and Fond du Lac Avenue is closed to traffic. Residents may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
Stow Street Bridge
Schedule: June 17 through September 15
Description: 0.034-mile project involving removals, grading, aggregate, asphalt pavement, structure replacement, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, storm sewer, erosion control, traffic control, and restoration.
July 27 to July 31: The contractor will finish forming, tie steel, and pour deck. The contractor will then begin forming bridge sidewalk and parapet. They will also begin working on storm sewer west of the bridge.
Traffic Impacts: Stow Street is CLOSED to pedestrian and vehicle traffic through the duration of the project.
Western Avenue – Military Road to Main Street
Macy Street – Court Street to Western Avenue
Schedule: April 27 through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting, traffic signals and restoration/landscaping.
July 27 to July 31: The concrete contractor will continue with concrete pavement at the intersection of Macy Street and Western Avenue. They will begin forming and pouring sidewalks and driveways on the west side of bridge on Western Avenue. The electrical contractor will begin installing light pole bases and pull boxes at the intersection of Macy and Western Ave mid-week.
Traffic Impacts: Western Avenue is closed to traffic. Residents, business owners, jurors and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
Traffic Impacts Macy Street is closed to traffic at Court Street. Macy Street will be two-way traffic from Second Street to Court Street.
Ruggles Street – S. Hickory Street to Mary’s Avenue
Schedule: May through July
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting, and restoration/landscaping.
July 27 to July 31: The restoration contractor will begin placing topsoil and seeding terraces.
Traffic Impacts: Ruggles Street is closed to traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
Morris Street – W. 9th Street to W. 12th Street
Schedule: May through September
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting, and restoration/landscaping.
July 27 to July 31: The utility contractor will continue with storm sewer lateral installation on Morris Street.
Traffic Impacts: Morris Street is closed to traffic. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.
Streambank Protection Project
Schedule: June through September
Description: East Branch Fond du Lac River from W. Pioneer Road to W. Twelfth Street – Bank protection; South Ditch at Elizabeth Street – Gabion repair; DeNeveu Creek at Ledgebrook Drive – Bank protection
July 27 to July 31: The contractor will begin to regrade the bank of Site 2, install field stones along the bank, and install vegetative bags on the side slopes of Site 2.
Traffic Impacts: The construction areas in the Greenway Arboretum are closed during construction hours and will reopen at the end of each day. Pedestrians may not access areas of the park under construction.
Promen Drive Bridge Closure
The closure of Promen Drive Bridge starting Monday, July 27, for bridge staining. The bridge will be closed during the daytime only and will reopen to traffic each evening. The project is expected to take approximately five days, weather permitting.
Closure Limits
- East Side: Closed just past the entrance to Oven Island (access to Oven Island remains open from the east).
- West Side: Closed just past the entrance to the Pavilion (access to the Pavilion remains open from the west).
Access & Traffic: Access to both Oven Island and the Pavilion will remain open during this time; however, through-traffic across the bridge will not be permitted during work hours.
