City of Fond du Lac – Weekly Construction Update

The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the corporate boundary. The Weekly Construction Updates and Construction Map are posted on the City’s Website at www.fdl.wi.gov.

Main Street/Court Street – Merrill Avenue to Sixth Street
Schedule: April 7 through August 29
Description: The project includes fiber, private lead replacement, repairs to curb, gutter, crosswalks/ramps, utility structures, water main replacement between Court St & Western Ave and milling and overlaying asphalt surface.
August 25 to August 29: Paving on Main Street and Court Street is complete. Pavement markings and signage will be installed early next week and sidewalks on Court Street will be poured.
Traffic Impacts: Phase 2 (1st Street to 6th Street) of the Main Street Project is closed to through traffic for final restoration. Access to businesses will be maintained, although there may be minor disruptions.

Promen Drive Bridge Replacement
Schedule: June 16 through fall of 2025
Description: In partnership with the WI Department of Transportation the project includes replacing the existing bridge structure and approaches.  
August 25 to August 29: Crews completed the concrete pour of the east abutment and wings. Backfilling of the abutment and wings, placing riprap and removing the cofferdams are scheduled for this week.
Traffic Impacts: Promen Drive Bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic within Lakeside Park. 

2025 Mill & Overlay Program/Lakeside Pavilion Parking Lot
Schedule: July 28 through Mid-September
Description: The project includes manhole adjustments, spot curb and gutter replacement, milling pavement, and overlay of asphalt.
August 25 to August 29: The curb, gutter, ramps, structure adjustments, and milling operations are complete on Peters Avenue and Camelot Drive.
Traffic Impacts: Camelot Drive and Peters Ave will remain open to traffic; however motorists may experience delays during this project, but we will maintain local traffic and driveway access whenever possible.

Bridge Rehabilitation and Maintenance
Schedule: July 7 through fall of 2025
Description: The project includes bridge deck asphalt & polymer overlay, surface repair, riprap, sidewalk, approach paving and railing painting.    
August 25 to August 29: Work on Park Ave. is completed.  Final restoration and cleanup will take place. Crews will begin work on the 4th Street Bridge and Division Street Bridge over DeNeveu Creek.  Work consists of the surface repairs, riprap and deck repairs.
Traffic Impacts: 4th Street and Division Street will remain open to traffic during the rehabilitation project. 

Algoma Street – E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue
Schedule: June through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 25 to August 29: The possible curb and gutter.
Traffic Impacts: Algoma Street will be closed to through traffic from E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Cottage Avenue – E. Division Street to Maple Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 25 to August 29: The Utility contractor will continue with sanitary sewer.  
Traffic Impacts: Cottage Avenue will be closed to through traffic at E. Merrill Avenue intersection. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Oaklawn Avenue – E. Division Street to E. Merrill Avenue
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 25 to August 29: No Work anticipated.
Traffic Impacts: Oaklawn Ave remains open to traffic.

E. Merrill Avenue – Cottage Avenue to DeNeveu Creek
Schedule: April through October
Description: The project includes gas main and service relocations, reconstruction of sanitary sewer and laterals, storm sewer and laterals, water main and laterals, roadway, sidewalk and approaches, street lighting and restoration/landscaping.
August 25 to August 29: The utility contractor will start sanitary sewer installation.  
Traffic Impacts: E. Merrill Avenue will be closed to through traffic at Cottage Avenue intersection. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” signs. It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Parking is not permitted on the street within the construction zone during working hours.

Superior Street, south of Grove Street will be closed Monday, August 25 through end of day Wednesday, August 27. Superior Street will be closed to a private contractor to complete gas installation through the intersection. 

Park Avenue, between 7th Street and 9th Street, will remain open to traffic; however a private contractor will be utilizing the parking lanes to complete gas installation in this area. This work is expected to last approximately three weeks.
