City Of Fond du Lac to Present North Main Street Corridor Redevelopment Plan, Seeks Public Input

City and its consultant, MSA, will present the plan at April 13 meeting.

The City of Fond du Lac is seeking public input on the draft plan for the North Main Street Corridor, which will be presented on April 13 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Fire Station #1 located at 815 South Main Street.

MSA, the City’s consultant, will present the overall vision, goals, and policies to support and guide new development and future public improvements in the corridor over the next 10-20
years.

“We’re very excited to unveil the first draft of the North Main Street Corridor redevelopment plan,” said Dyann Benson, Community Development Director for the City of Fond du Lac.
“Throughout this entire process, we’ve used resident feedback to inform our plan. As a City, it’s our duty to continue to enhance our home and meet the needs of our residents.”

The North Main Street corridor had been identified in the 2040 Comp Plan as an important corridor for the City to support reinvestment. Some key factors that were identified through this
2022/2023 planning process include the following:

● Locational importance of the corridor as it sits between the Downtown and Lakeside Park;
● Current lack of identity and character;
● Need for reinvestment, especially to building facades; and
● Transformative opportunity with the former Saputo site (in the northeast corner of Scott/Main).

NORTH MAIN STREET CORRIDOR PLAN
The North Main Street Corridor is the area from Johnson Street to Scott Street, and has been identified in the 2040 Comprehensive Plan as an important corridor for the City to support
reinvestment. This plan will provide a 20-year vision for the corridor, outlining actions and potential (re)development opportunities along the corridor. It will also provide guidance in
reviewing development projects, as well as recommended actions and implementation strategies to enhance the corridor.
