“On Tap” event will provide an illustrated look back, examining the history and evolution of beer in Wisconsin
The City of Fond du Lac is honored to host Milwaukee historian John Gurda for a presentation of Milwaukee on Tap: The History of Breweries and Beer on Wednesday, May 21 at 6:00 p.m. at The Center – Fond du Lac’s Hub for Active Older Adults. The illustrated look back will examine the development and evolution of breweries and beer in Wisconsin, the drink that helped build its economy and made the Badger State famous.
Milwaukee on Tap was created by John Gurda, a Milwaukee-born writer and historian who has been studying Milwaukee since 1972. He is also the author of 23 books, including histories of Milwaukee-area neighborhoods, industries and places of worship.
“We’re honored to host Mr. John Gurda’s Milwaukee on Tap event,” said Dyann Benson, community development director of the City of Fond du Lac. “This is a great opportunity for the Fond du Lac community to learn more about our state’s fascinating relationship with beer and breweries and hear from a passionate local historian.”
This free event is presented by the City of Fond du Lac’s Historic Preservation Commission in honor of Historic Preservation Month. The Historic Preservation Commission hosts educational presentations spanning a variety of historical interests every Historic Preservation Month as part of its mission to preserve and protect local history.
