City of Fond du Lac Celebrates the Opening of Lakeside Park Pedestrian Bridge

City hosts ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of pedestrian bridge at Lakeside Park

Yesterday, the City of Fond du Lac hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the pedestrian bridge at Lakeside Park connecting Lakeside Park to Lakeside Park West.

The bridge was first proposed by city council members in 2017 as part of a master plan to improve Lakeside Park. The feasibility study and design were funded in 2022 and the $1.8 million construction budget was approved for 2023. Construction began in the fall of that year.

The ribbon cutting ceremony included remarks from City Council President Tiffany Brault and Director of Public Works Paul DeVries.

“The City of Fond du Lac is thrilled to open the pedestrian bridge at Lakeside Park to the community,” shared City Council President Tiffany Brault. “This new addition to the City underscores our continued commitment to ensure our residents can easily access the various recreational and natural spaces within our community.”

“This connecting bridge will help foster a sense of community for all of our residents,“ said Director of Public Works Paul DeVries. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to a larger, improved communal space for all to enjoy for generations to come.”

With the completion of this project, the City of Fond du Lac encourages residents to continue to enjoy both Lakeside Park and Lakeside Park West.
