It’s that time again!! Ebony Vision’s Annual Black History Month event will be on February 25, 2023 from 2pm –4pm at FDL YMCA 90 W 2nd St, Fond du Lac, WI.
This event is FREE!!! ALL are welcome to attend this family friendly, and family focused annual event.
As we recognize the diversity of our great nation, taking a month to specifically celebrate the contributions of African Americans helps foster greater appreciation and understanding. It is important to remember and honor the work of those, of the past and present, who have supported our community. From the transcendent writing of Zora Neale Hurston, to the illuminating invention of Lewis Latimer, to the local Black leadership of Bishop Haywood (Pastor of Bread of Life Churches), and Daisy Frazier (President of Ebony Vision), working together to give spiritual support, Educational guidance, and a Real voice to the African American Community here in FDL as we all work together to Embrace, Celebrate, Educate and Empower the Diversity & Culture of Fond du lac, WI.
There will be live music from DJ Moe Craine, a basket raffle, general raffles with prizes, an engaging panel discussing the months theme and how it affects us today, dessert refreshments, the 2023 Ishamon Harris community award and more! The national 2023 Black History Month theme, “Black Resistance,” explores how African Americans have addressed historic and ongoing disadvantage and oppression, as evidenced by recent events. This event is FREE, family friendly, open to the public and co-sponsored by the Higher Education Diversity Initiatives Team.
