Big Brothers Big Sisters Revamps Their Halloween Fundraiser

This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County is revamping their Halloween fundraiser. What was once the beloved “Halloweenie 0.5K” is now the “Halloweenie Street Party.” Get ready to shake your bones at this 21+ nighttime extravaganza on Thursday, October 26th, 2023, from 5:30 PM-8:00PM on Main Street in Downtown Fond du Lac.

“When the Halloweenie started in 2019, it ran from Division to 4th Street, the original distance was a true 0.5K,” says BBBS Executive Director Tammy Young. “This year we’re shaking things up and turning it into a street party.”

Presented by Society Insurance for the fifth year in a row, the Halloweenie Street Party will feature food, drink, and activity vendors between Forest Avenue and 2nd Street. Participants will receive punch cards to sample all the tasty treats from local favorites like Top Shelf, Fat Joe’s, Bob’s Pizza, and many more. There will be a costume contest, music, and photo-ops throughout the night.

Tickets for the Halloweenie Street Party are $40 each and can be purchased online at www.bbbsfdl.org/halloweenie/. Registration on the night of the event will be held in The Annex at Coliseum Sports Bar and Grill.

“Although registration will be inside this year, we want to keep the party rocking on the street,” says BBBS Executive Coordinator Amy Docter. “DJ Marty Schibbelhut will keep things hopping with good music and some surprise contests.”

Fundraising events like the Halloweenie Street Party help BBBS find, train, and match volunteers with children who need mentors in our community.

“The money we raise at the Halloweenie stays in Fond du Lac County and allows BBBS to serve more children through our mentoring programs,” says Young. “These programs allow us to positively impact the lives of our youth. The more money we raise at events like the Halloweenie, the more children we’re able to serve.”

BBBS is a United Way Agency that assists children with social, emotional, and character development through one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adults. The agency matches children with a Big Brother, Sister, Couple, or Family in a community or school-based program. Children ages 6 through 13 can enroll in the program through parent or guardian referral, and volunteers ages 16 and up can be mentors.
