Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County’s largest annual fundraiser. This year, Bowl for Kids’ Sake – Game Day will take place on February 28th and March 1st, 2025, at Parkway Lanes in Fond du Lac.
“Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a big part of our annual budget,” says BBBS Executive Director Tammy Young. “It’s only possible through the support we receive from the Fond du Lac community.”
Hundreds of people from all over the Fond du Lac County area come together to bowl and raise money in support of local youth. Each bowler fundraises at least $75 to participate, or $50 for BBBS matches and bowlers ages 17 and under. This fundraiser is a fun and easy way for companies and individuals alike to make a positive impact through bowling, costume contests, prizes, and a little bit of friendly competition.
This year’s fundraiser coincides with The Big Draft, a national volunteer recruitment effort between BBBS of America and the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative. With the 2025 NFL Draft being held in Green Bay, 14 Wisconsin BBBS agencies have teamed up to recruit 700 volunteer mentors across the state from February to April. The Big Draft officially kicks off after Super Bowl LIX on February 10th, 2025.
“With Bowl for Kids’ Sake falling in the middle of the campaign, we thought what better way to help support such an important initiative. And besides, who doesn’t love to dress up as their favorite sports player?” says Young.
The theme Game Day is a celebration of the sports, teams, coaches, and athletes that inspire us. Bowlers can dress up in their game day gear to compete in costume contests, enter 50/50 raffles, enjoy music from DJ Marty Schibbelhut, and even meet a Wisconsin mascot or two. During the special bowling shift for matches, Bigs and Littles can expect face painting, a Verve color pin contest, and other fun prizes.
Fundraising events like Bowl for Kids’ Sake help BBBS find, train, and match volunteers with children who need mentors in our community. Over $100,000 was raised at last year’s event through sponsorships, peer-to-peer fundraising, and food and drink donations from Parkway Lanes.
Visit bbbsfdl.org to register as an individual or join a team, select your preferred bowling shift, and start fundraising. Each registration includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, and a free event t-shirt if registered by February 15th.
