Aurora Proves too Much for Sabre Women’s Volleyball

Marian University women’s volleyball (5-7, 0-1 NACC) was defeated 25-21, 25-19, 25-22 by Aurora in its NACC opener.

  • Marian controlled most of the opening set eventually leading 18-15.
  • The Spartans then rallied going on a 9-2 run to lead 24-20.
  • After Marian held off the first set point, Aurora finished the job for the 1-0 lead.
  • The second set was tied 9-9 but Aurora pulled away scoring the next seven points.
  • Aurora took the first three points of the third set but Marian chipped away and led 16-15.
  • The Spartans then took control with a 7-1 spurt.
  • Marian cut its deficit down to as little as two, but Aurora was able to finish off the sweep.

  • Aurora held a 40-35 edge for kills with the Spartans hitting .216 in the match.
  • The Sabre back row finished with a 67-61 advantage for digs.
  • Marian finished with double-digit kills in all three sets.
