Another defensive battle goes against Marian women’s hockey

Marian University women’s hockey (6-10-1, 3-6-1-0 NCHA) was shutout for a second straight game falling to LFC 1-0.

  • The second game of the series proved to be no different from the first as both defenses dominated.
  • It wouldn’t be until 4:11 remained in the game that Lake Forest would break the scoreless tie.
  • Marian spent 1:18 with an extra attacker but were unable to find an equalizer.

  • Lake Forest outshot Marian in all three periods and finished with a 46-24 edge.
  • It was a penalty filled game but neither squad could light the lamp on the power play.  Marian would have seven chances and Lake Forest had 10 opportunities.
  • The Foresters held a 40-28 advantage on face offs.

Senior Kayla Kolpitcke (2-4-1) made at least 12 saves each period finishing with 45 stops.
Senior Mackenzie Rosin had a team-high five shots and four blocked shots.
Senior Alyssa Heim had three shots, two blocked shots, and six face-off wins.
