Agnesian HealthCare Foundation 2022 Charity Open has successful year

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation hosted another successful Charity Open event. Proceeds support SSM Health at Home Hospice services in the Greater Fond du Lac community and help ensure that all patients have access to these vital services regardless of their ability to pay.

As with previous years, the evening dinner featured the story of a local family benefiting from SSM Health at Home Hospice care.

“This year, we were honored to share the story of someone who lived his life to the fullest, John Huempfner,” says Shawn Fisher, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation executive director. “John was beloved by so many through the impact he made within this community. Through his career and gift of giving back, John touched and impacted the lives of many.

“We’re humbled by John’s family, who have opened their hearts to share John’s legacy, to help us raise funds to support hospice care for all who need it facing end of life, regardless of their ability to pay,” Fisher adds.

Thanks to the generosity of those attending and sponsoring the event, the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation raised more than $460,000.

SSM Health at Home Hospice – Fond du Lac averages 165 patients receiving care at any given time with 41 percent receiving financial assistance for the length of their care. The average cost of care at $300 per day.

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Charity Open was led by Thor and Mallory Gilbertson as senior chairpersons, with Drs. Robert Bertram and Sarika Parikh-Bertram joining as junior chairpersons.

“We’re excited to help support individuals and families utilizing our hospice care thanks to the continued generosity of our community,” Fisher says. “The individuals and businesses that participate annually in the Charity Open come with charitable hearts to ultimately benefit local individuals in need of these vital services.”

This year’s major sponsors were: Michels Corporation, Stuarts Landscaping & Garden Center, Margaret Terlinden – In Memory of John Terlinden, TTI Inc., Drs. Punit and Nidhi Kumar, Lakeside Wealth Management, Holiday Automotive, and CD Smith Construction.
