Honor highlights outstanding internship programs across the insurance industry
For the second consecutive year, Society Insurance has been named to the 2026 RISE Elite 50 Internships List. The list recognizes the nation’s top insurance internship programs for professional development, mentorship and meaningful early-career experiences. Society earned the highest rating in the Excellence in Experiential Learning category.
RISE is a national insurance community that supports early-career professionals through mentorship, education, networking and recognition. Based in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Society Insurance is a mutual insurer specializing in business coverage.
“Internships give early-career professionals valuable hands-on experience to identify their strengths and build confidence,” said Rose McPhee, senior talent and performance management specialist at Society Insurance. “The energy and curiosity our interns bring continually inspire us and we’re committed to fostering learning, growth and meaningful connections.”
Since launching its internship program in 2007, Society Insurance has welcomed more than 155 college students to summer and year-round roles across departments. Today, internship program alumni make up more than 6% of Society’s workforce.
“I joined Society in May 2024 as a service desk intern. A year later, I became an infrastructure intern before transitioning to a full-time IT infrastructure engineer role in May of this year,” said Ethan Hetzler, infrastructure engineer at Society Insurance. “I hope to continue growing within my department and advancing my career at Society.”
“As an intern, Society offers multiple opportunities to learn about the company, your position and other roles through job shadows, intern events and connections with people from other teams and departments,” said Angela Hechel, digital experience intern. “If I have a question, people are willing to help and if they can’t help me directly, they will connect me with someone who can.”
