Portion of proceeds from limited-edition jersey sale will benefit Marian’s Working Families Grant Program
Marian University is teaming up with Green Bay Packers legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler to launch a special #36 pink custom jersey sale, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Marian University’s Working Families Grant (WFG) Program.
The limited-edition pink jersey celebrates Butler’s legendary Packers career while supporting a cause that has deep personal meaning for the Hall of Famer: helping single parents and their children build brighter futures.
Butler knows firsthand the challenges and sacrifices that can come with being raised by a single parent. He grew up in a family of five children, raised by his mother, who worked multiple jobs to support her family. Butler has frequently spoken publicly about the profound influence his mother had on his life and his career.
“My mom was my hero. She raised five kids as a single mom and worked incredibly hard to give us opportunities and keep our family moving forward,” Butler said. “I know what it means when someone believes in you and gives you a chance. That’s why this partnership with Marian University and the Working Families Grant Program means so much to me. When you help a single parent get an education, you’re not just helping one person, you’re helping an entire family and creating opportunities for the next generation.”
The Working Families Grant Program at Marian University is designed to help single parents pursue a bachelor’s degree while raising their children. The program provides financial assistance, including tuition support, living stipends, and emergency funds, along with mentoring and other resources designed to help students succeed academically and personally. Funding for the Working Families Grant Program is made possible through the generosity of donors and community partners who believe in the power of education to transform lives.
“Education has the power to change the trajectory of a family,” Kerry Strupp, Working Families Grant Program Director, said. “LeRoy’s story is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a parent makes sacrifices, perseveres, and believes in what is possible. We are incredibly grateful to LeRoy for helping shine a light on the Working Families Grant Program and the single parents who are working hard to create new opportunities for themselves and their children.”
The Working Families Grant Program has supported single parents at Marian for more than two decades. Since its creation in 2002, the program has helped hundreds of students pursue and complete their undergraduate degrees while also making a difference in the lives of their children and communities.
The #36 pink custom jersey is available through LeRoy’s website at https://www.leroybutlerinc.com/store/ . A portion of each sale will be donated to the Working Families Grant Program at Marian University.
