Marian University women’s volleyball (0-1, 0-0 NACC) dropped its opening match of the season in straight sets to Lawrence; 25-19, 25-15, 25-21.
- The Vikings were able to start strong in each set and led in the first 8-2.
- Lawrence held a 16-9 lead before Marian chipped away at its deficit only trailing 21-18.
- The Sabre rally fell short as Lawrence scored four of the final five points to take the opener 25-19.
- A 9-3 Viking lead started the second with Lawrence once again pulling that advantage out to 16-9.
- Just like the opening set, Marian rallied late and managed to only trail by two at 22-20.
- The Vikings were able to score three of the final four points, however, to take a 2-0 lead.
- Lawrence opened the third set with the first six points with another five straight points later in the set giving them a 14-5 advantage.
- This time, Marian was unable to rally with Lawrence eventually taking the straight-sets win.
- Lawrence had at least 15 kills in all three sets and finished with a 47-24 advantage for the match.
- The Sabres had the advantage at the net with seven blocks to only two for Lawrence.
- Marian drops its first match of the season for a second straight season.
- Lawrence now has a 22-16 edge over Marian in the all-time series with this being their first win in Sadoff Gym since 2018.
