SSM Health Adult Day Services to host Former Wisconsin Governor Marty Schreiber for dementia caregiving presentation

SSM Health Adult Day Services, 420 E. Merrill Avenue in Fond du Lac, invites community members to attend a special evening with former Wisconsin Governor Marty Schreiber, a nationally recognized advocate for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia caregivers, on Tuesday, September 29.

The free event will feature tours, a meet-and-greet, a presentation and book signing focused on supporting individuals and families affected by dementia.

The event – “Marty Schreiber: Navigating the Dementia Journey with Hope and Understanding” – will draw on Schreiber’s personal experience caring for his wife, Elaine, following her Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis. Attendees will hear practical caregiving insights, personal stories and words of encouragement for caregivers, family members and others touched by dementia.

“Whether you are currently caring for a loved one with dementia, have cared for someone in the past or simply want to better understand the dementia journey, this evening will offer valuable information and inspiration,” according to Julie Schwartz, SSM Health Adult Day Services supervisor. “Marty Schreiber’s message resonates with so many families because it comes from lived experience. His honesty, compassion and practical advice have helped countless caregivers feel less alone.”

Schwartz said the event also highlights the importance of community support for individuals living with memory loss and those who care for them.

“At SSM Health Adult Day Services, we see every day the challenges families face when navigating dementia,” Schwartz says. “Our goal is to provide resources, education, and support that help individuals remain engaged and caregivers feel supported. We are excited to welcome Marty and offer this opportunity to our community.”

The evening’s schedule includes tours at 5 pm followed at 5:30 pm with a meet and greet with Marty Schreiber. The presentation by Marty Schreiber will follow at 6 pm with book signing opportunities after.

The first 20 individuals who register will receive a complimentary autographed copy of Schreiber’s book, My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver.
