The Recognition Affirms ‘The Trust Our Patients Place in Us’
ThedaCare is one of the 15 Top Health Systems in the nation, according to Modern Healthcare and Premier, Inc.
The announcement follows an objective quantitative analysis conducted by Premier, a technology-driven healthcare improvement company. The annual study evaluates health system performance considering clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and patient experience to identify high-performing health organizations.
“This latest recognition further demonstrates to our patients, their families and communities across northeast and central Wisconsin our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, efficiency and high-quality care,” said Lynn Detterman, president of the North Region of Froedtert ThedaCare. “It also reflects the expertise and compassion of our team members, while affirming the trust our patients place in us to deliver the exceptional care they need and deserve.”
Compared to peer health systems, ThedaCare and the rest of this year’s top performers outperformed other health organizations across all measured performance indicators included in the study while continuing to deliver high-quality care and operational efficiency.
Key findings from this year’s analysis include:
- 3% lower inpatient mortality compared to peers.
- Fewer healthcare-associated infections, with a 28.6% difference in performance.
- Shorter average length of stay.
- Lower overall episode-of-care costs.
The results demonstrate the ability of top-performing systems like ThedaCare to deliver high-quality care while maintaining operational efficiency and alignment across their hospitals.
Participation in the study isn’t determined by an application process. Health systems don’t opt in or out and aren’t charged for inclusion, which helps ensure objectivity and transparency. To develop the list, Premier researchers evaluated 336 health systems nationwide using publicly available data. Systems included in the study must have at least two short-term, acute care hospitals and meet established inclusion criteria.
“Being listed among the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems highlights our dedication to advancing the health of our communities through excellence and discovery, inspiring each person to live their unique, best life,” Detterman said. “The honor is indicative of the type of personalized care and attention our patients and their families can continue to expect from their healthcare teams at ThedaCare.”
Premier shared similar sentiments.

“Achieving Premier’s 15 Top Health Systems designation is a meaningful accomplishment that reflects a health system’s commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care,” said David Zito, president of Performance Services at Premier. “This recognition highlights ThedaCare’s focus on improving outcomes, strengthening operations and advancing the overall patient experience.”
