Lakeland Care, Inc. Seeks Volunteer to Help Build Better Lives Throughout Fond du Lac County

Lakeland Care, Inc. (LCI), is seeking community minded individuals who want to make connections in the community, build deep, meaningful relationships, and help create a world we all want to live in! Join the movement of positive change with the LCI Volunteer Program.

LCI is a managed care organization (MCO) that provides long-term care services and supports to eligible, frail elders and individuals with physical and intellectual or developmental disabilities through Wisconsin’s Family Care program.

According to Amanda Stobb, Volunteer Services Specialist for LCI, volunteering is a win/win for all. It provides many benefits to both the volunteer and recipient.

“Volunteering allows individuals to connect with their communities, develop friendships, learn new skills, and gain valuable experience for career advancement. Plus, volunteering contributes to purpose and fulfillment in an individual’s life,” says Stobb.  “Lakeland Care’s new volunteer program will match vetted volunteers with members, allowing them to explore opportunities that provide meaning and connection within their communities. As a pioneer in the creation and development of the volunteer program, LCI is helping to advance how we holistically support our communities and the members we serve.”

Volunteers will fill various roles that will serve the organization and members to include the following:

  • Companionship: Volunteer companions will provide company and support to members in the community through visits and/or phone calls.
  • Transportation: Volunteer drivers, using LCI company vehicles, will help members engage further in their communities by providing rides to social events or activities.
  • Administrative Services: Administrative volunteers will assist with routine and project-based tasks to support the organization’s administrative needs and clerical support provided to members.

Stobb says there are many positives to volunteering with LCI. The work is rewarding. Recognition will be given in many ways. Volunteers can give as little as one hour or up to 29 hours per week using flexible scheduling that fits in their life and lifestyle, and volunteers will gain new skills with training opportunities. The benefits of volunteering are endless and can last a lifetime!

The LCI Volunteer Program will start small, focusing on projects, transportation needs, and companionship for members in the Fond du Lac County area. Eventually, volunteer opportunities will be available throughout the 22 counties that LCI serves.
